Wine And Longing

Light that stirs the sleeping morning

Disturbing the poetry of sweet places

Wanting to linger in night’s shadows

Where lips taste like wine and longing

Old love songs, and once upon a new

In reoccurring and never lasting bliss

Banished by the insistent kiss of dawn

No warrant or welcome to nether realm

Where dream’s flight would rather stay

If they are all, be forever, and left alone

By days unheard, ashamed of silence

For not coming when they are the prayer

To answer whispers, it’s wishes only dare

To ask aloud, when no one’s there to careImage
